A Letter From Father Tom
HOW WE ARE HOPING TO LIMIT THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS, COVID-19.
I wrote one article about this earlier in the week and now, Thursday evening, I am sitting down to rewrite it for the third time this week. I expect that by the time many read this, it will be outdated. But here is what I know...
Read the full letter to find out what services are still being held, what events are still happening, and how we are changing procedures to continue to minister to our parish and community.
Father Tom made this additional announcement at Mass March 14-15:
Parish Reconciliation Service
Lent is the principal season of penance in the Catholic faith. According to the Conference of Catholic Bishops, "The need for conversion and salvation is unchanging, as is the necessity that, confessing our sinfulness, we perform, personally and in community, acts of penance in pledge of our inward penitence and conversion." We will hold a Parish Reconciliation Service on March 26 at 7 p.m. in the church. If you have a schedule conflict, consider attending a Reconciliation Service at a neighboring parish. A full list of the area Reconciliation Services is on this programming page.

Living a Laudato Sì Lent
Go to our Living a Laudato Sì Lent page for activities for Week 3: Waste Reduction
The Life and Justice Committee is inviting all of us to experience Living a Laudato Sì Lent. As we begin our journey as individuals, families and a parish in “Caring for our Common Home,” the group will introduce a theme each week for the six weeks of Lent to help us explore and strengthen our understanding of Pope Francis’s message from his encyclical Laudato Sì.
Each week will be structured in a three-action format — Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving — to help us think and act in simple but meaningful ways to Care for Creation and deepen our Lenten Journey.
Stations of the Cross
Every Friday of Lent at 7 p.m., Stations of the Cross will be held in the Church.
Anointing of the Sick
This healing sacrament will be offered after all the Masses on March 21 & 22. After the final song, those who wish to receive the Anointing of the Sick should be seated in the front pews. This sacrament is not just for people who are dying. This is a special sacrament to pray for anyone who is seriously sick physically, mentally or spiritually.
We are digging a well!
A joint Lenten project of the children in our school and Religious Education programs will help the people in Madzibembulu, Zimbabwe. The village needs a well. The children are trying to raise $4,200, the projected cost of drilling the hole for the well. Associated expenses bring the total cost of a finished well to approximately $13,620. You can watch the progress on the charts in the Davis Narthex and on the bulletin board in Hartmann Hall.
This project ties in nicely with the Life and Stewardship Committee's Living a Laudato Sì Lent initiative. The week 1 theme was Clean Drinking Water. Learn more about water concerns on the Laudato Sì Lent web page and consider a donation to the project. Perhaps the money you save on that latte you have given up for Lent could provide a drink for our African brothers and sisters.
Parish Census
Please click this link to take the Parish Census Questionnaire. The questionnaire cannot be saved and revisited, so please plan to complete in one sitting. The census asks basic questions about family and sacramental info. It can be completed in 10-15 minutes, depending on family-size. Thank you for participating in this vital effort!
